Comparable to the elegance of a San Francisco bistro, the atmosphere is friendly and inviting with a refreshingly genuine hospitality that seems to come naturally to the well-trained servers. With Opal’s dedicated style of “Team Service,” the goal of the entire dining room staff is to not only provide exceptional service, but serve in a manner that is warm and engaging, and properly nuanced to each patron’s mood and situation. With the restaurant staff highly experienced in serving corporate functions, birthdays, wedding rehearsal dinners, wedding celebrations, weekly luncheons and private parties, the bustling bistro also welcomes in-house parties from 10 to 120 guests as well as on-location services. Opal’s attention to detail in the kitchen is equally appealing. “Like the semi-precious stone, our menu has a variety of colors,” explains Yates. “With an infusion of eclectic California cuisine using the freshest of ingredients and creative influences from around the globe, it’s the international flare that keeps our guests coming back.” From their Chile-Crusted Filet Mignon, Shredded Phyllo Wrapped Tiger Prawns with a Coconut Curry Dipping Sauce, Spanish Paella, Lemongrass Crusted Thai Salmon, Homemade Tomato Linguini or Basil Fettuccine, Smoked Chicken Chipotle Pizza, Grilled Eggplant and Portobello Mushroom Salad and the “Like Water for Chocolate” Surprise, the bistro guarantees their guests will find what they’re looking for on the menu. The same holds true with Opal’s extraordinary bar where a Wine Spectator award-winning wine list features over 350 wines.

Excellent food, drinks, value
Went here for date night on Friday Excellent and varied menu with very reasonable prices. You can actually get a nice entree for less that $15 and it will be really good. Cocktails were original and very tasty. Sat at the bar and received great service. Can't believe we have not been here before considering how long we've lived here. Cheaper than Harry's and way better. Thanks guys.

Consistently great
I continue to go back to Opal as it is consistently one of the best dining experiences I can find. I often share multiple appetizers as a dinner entree and love their wine selection (not many restaurants serving Marquis Phillips). It can get a little noisy, thus hanging out in the room in the back can be a more pleasant experience.

great food, great atmosphere, great fun
This fun and lively restaurant has a level of energy and sophistication usually reserved for one in a much larger city, yet it still maintains the warm casual feel that is Santa Barbara dining. The Shredded Phyllo Tiger Prawns are a must-have! I have tried a variety of the dishes and specials offered and have never been disappointed. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and always makes great recommendations regarding both food and wine. Depending upon your table location, the restaurant can get a bit loud at times, but this also adds to that vibrant "city feel".
