What’s more fun than sitting at a large, communal table talking with people you’ve never met in a lively restaurant? Possibly enjoying a delicious burger with homemade bun, homemade mayo, and a roasted chile for accent. You can, of course, have your own table. Salad bowls are popular at lunchtime, too, like the half papaya filled with crab on a bed of butter lettuce, sprinkled with toasted almonds and two yummy sauces. Jane’s is new to State Street, but an old favorite from the owners of Montecito Cafe. Like the Cafe, Jane emphasizes quality, value and service. Menu favorites include grilled breast of duck, seared ahi & prawn salad bowl, the natural hamburger and fish & chips. The atmosphere is cozy and warm with a floor to ceiling fireplace and is located in the historical Spanish building two doors from the Arlington hotel.
