Cold Spring Tavern

Cold Spring Tavern, 4.0 out of 5 based on 2 ratings

An original stagecoach stop, Cold Spring Tavern is nestled just over the top of the foothills off of San Marcos Pass. The setting is rustic with all the charm and amenities of the modern world. The original buildings provide an old west atmosphere that is quickly disappearing. Don’t be fooled by the rustic appearance for the food is 100% gourmet starting with superb flavored butters to exotic game prepared with fresh herbs to fresh seafood. They also have a great old western style bar with the best local music around. They are located just 15 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara.

Like they used to be

Heard this restaurant was an old stage coach stop, so we had to check it out. Very cool place, nice and low key and very authentic. The food was great, excellent ambiance and a very eclectic crowd. Will definitely make this a regular stop for us. We heard the Sunday afternoon scene is a unique mix of bikers and locals, so that will be out next time to come up here.

Hobbit Dining

We felt we were on movie set when we pulled up to this darling restaurant. It's so charming. We got lucky and were seated immediately. We had wonderful ribs that were perfectly seasoned and the drinks were good and strong! Highly recommend this restaurant to people with out of town guests. It's a must see, even if you stop to get drinks and listen to the live music. It's not a quiet getaway so be warned. The acoustics just aren't that great in a vintage cabin!

One of Santa Barbara's hidden gems.

Cold Springs Tavern is a must see and experience place to go to. After a scenic drive up and over the mountain (154), you drop down into a wooded canyon where hides a little historical tavern. Once you get out of your car, you get to breath in the fresh cool air which starts the mood. Then you walk into the little old historical cabin that is lit by the ambiance of the fires. The choice of foods offered is amazing. You can really go exploring with your taste buds here. Every type of animal you can think of is served from chicken, lamb, gator, boar, elk, moose and more. (i think those are the some of the meats provided, I might be off on one or two of them but you get the idea) This is a must got to destination where you can indulge the inner explore in you.
