Día de los Muertos Dinner on Friday, November 2

The Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum, 653 Paseo Nuevo, Artist Maria Rendón and Arlington Tavern chef Ron True provide an unforgettably artistic Día de los Muertos Dinner at CAF. Artist Maria Rendón and Arlington Tavern chef and owner Ron True collaborate on the second iteration of Crave for a special Día de los Muertos Dinner. In an innovative interpretation of the traditional Día de los Muertos – a holiday celebrated in Mexico and worldwide in which families and friends honor those who have passed from the earthly realm – Rendón will create a surreal, artistic environment from which to experience True’s culinary delights. From the ceiling, a bright orange marigold canopy, symbolizing rebirth, will hang above the guests’ heads. The seated dinner event will also include artist orchestrated readings and music, and a gourmet meal inspired by the holiday.

Arlington Tavern fare is modern American California cuisine that is seasonally-influenced from farm to table and chef Ron True will draw from his expertise to create dishes that play on the holiday’s themes of rebirth, ancestor worship, and a celebration of the heavens. This earthy repast is a four-course dinner and also includes an apéritif and appetizers. Designed as a full-sensory art, food, and social experience, Crave’s Día de los Muertos Dinner is a unique and exclusive dining experience unlike anything else Santa Barbara has to offer.  Tickets to Día de los Muertos Dinner are $200 General Admission/$190 CAF Members and seating is limited to 20. To purchase tickets for Crave visit: cravesb.eventbrite.com. To inquire about dinner tickets that do not include alcohol, email Karla Blancas at curator@sbcaf.org.
